The Nation Report (Regular Season, Part 2)

On Monday, the Boston Red Sox traded for San Diego catcher Doug Mirabelli. Mirabelli, who was with Boston last season and was Tim Wakefield's personal catcher, was sent to Boston in exchange for Josh Bard, minor league pitcher Cla Meredith and a player to be named later or cash.

Mirabelli was in the starting lineup in Monday's 7-3 win over the New York Yankees at Fenway Park. Mirabelli went 0-for-4 at the plate but his impact in handling Wakefield's knuckleball was felt. Wakefield threw 99 pitches (with 60 of them for strikes) over seven innings and got a no decision.

I was at the game. Douggie was a stud just for all the travelling he did!

The Mass. State police topped out at 120MPH on I-90 I think it was, putting dozens of motorists in danger so that Mirabelli could be on time for a baseball game.

Gotta love Red Sox Nation!
