Nuff Things Aw Gwan in Jamaica and Miami

I noticed there were no comments on my "Next Destination" post. I see the jury has spoken loud and clear: a post like that is useless without pics.
Well, please allow me to reintroduce myself.
Jamaica...Jamaica...Jamaica...was fabulous. I hadn't been back to Jamaica in over 15 years so I had a lot of catching up to do in one week. I finally got to meet my baby cousin and I know that after spending a week with a four-month old child...that I'm NOT quite ready for all those sleepless nights of my own.

I also got to see some old friends and some friends of my family. The sad part is that I barely remembered Jamaica and I had to keep apologizing to folks that came up to me and said I know you. Just about every time, I couldn't say that I knew or remembered them back.

I also visited the Bob Marley Museum in Kingston. If you ever visit, Kingston, Jamaica you should make a trip to the BMM. You'll learn some things about the legend that you probably didn't know before.

The exchange rate is something serious in Jamaica. It is $1 US to every $67 Jamaican. It translates to things in Jamaica being a bit more expensive than in United States but that shouldn't stop you from coming.

You can find Burger Kings, KFCs, Taco Bells but No McDonalds in Jamaica (they didn't do well..and were closed) as well as several good patty places. If you've never had a Jamaican patty, you haven't lived a full life.

I took a trip to the country side (or the western part of the island) and visited one of the popular tourist spots Ocho Rios (or Ocho or Ochi...as some of the natives call it). I went to Dunn's River Falls in Ocho Rios and scaled it without a problem even though I was stuck behind some very slow old people.

After a long week in Jamaica, I flew back to the US and had a layover in Miami. I didn't feel like sitting at Miami Int'l Airport for 5 hours...so I jumped in cab and went to the Hard Rock Cafe and walked around in downtown Miami for a couple of hours.

I will say this...Miami Int'l Airport is no joke. The line for Immigration for non-US Citizens or non-US permanent residents to get into the country was a mile long in ever direction on a Tuesday afternoon. It makes you value being a US Citizen because it took me like 10 minutes to clear customs and check my bags for my connecting flight.

Overall, it was a relaxing trip. I definitely need to go back to Miami and spend some real time and go back to Jamaica and spend some time in either Mobay, Ocho or Negril. I'm already debating where my international vacation for next year should be. I'm leaning towards the Cayman Islands, Toronto or the Bahamas.

Love the pics, the baby is too cute, not so bad yourself either :)

P.S. Where do you recommend going if one wanted to visit Jamaica?

@diamondsr4eva...Thanks. I keep telling the ladies...that chocolate is still in. lol. One day, I would love to have some adorable children.

As for visiting Jamaica, I would say either Montego Bay, Ocho Rios or Negril. All three have all-inclusive resorts and beautiful beaches that would make a fabulous trip. Now, if you go to Montego Bay, the airport is there, so it is only a short ride to your resort. The other two places would be a one hour bus/taxi ride. If you feel like going into the Eastern part of the island, I would recommend going with a tour or going with someone who is from Jamaica. Any other questions hit me up at spchrist2@gmail.com
