Idris vs Denzel...who you taking ladies?

(Denzel Washington)

(Idris Elba)

During my second viewing of the movie Takers starring Idris Elba, Michael Ealy, Chris Brown, T.I., Paul Walker and more...a woman said "OH MY GOD!" very loudly (for everyone in the movie theater to hear) during one scene featuring Elba getting out of bed. He was wearing nothing but his boxers..(I had to cover my date's eyes).

More than just the "Amen" that woman got from the other women in the movie theater...it was probably a moment shared around the United States and maybe a passing of the torch from one sex symbol to another.

Denzel Washington has been the sexiest black man alive for quite some time in America but I think Elba holds more acreage in women's hearts these days. His roles as Stringer Bell from the HBO hit "The Wire" and his role in Tyler Perry's "Daddy's Little Girls" has cemented his fame amongst black women in the USA. He fits the mold of tall, dark and handsome (no homo) and add the British accent and he's a solid candidate to take down the king Denzel. If some Hollywood director was thinking, he or she would cast both of them in a movie real quick and watch the $$ pill up at the box office.

As I polled my female friends of their opinions of the movie Takers...all I could get out of most of them is "the eye candy in the movie was impressive" (and then a fainting sound).

What about the plot....ladies? It didn't matter it seems.

I posted this question on my facebook status: "has Idris Elba officially replaced Denzel Washington as the sexiest black man alive? Ladies...what say you." and the results were overwhelming in favor of Elba. Maybe the Denzel fans were signed into facebook yet.

@Ladynay...lmao @ none of the above. that's definitely a first when the topic is Idris or Denzel. Then who in Hollywood does it for you then?

I prefer a man with facial hair, so I'll have to go with Idris, and his accent doesn't hurt. It's worth noting that nothing's wrong with Denzel. I don't want to be accused of dissing him. LOL.
