I had a few hiccups in the month of January like:
- getting a ticket for making a rolling stop through an intersection with a flashing red light (mind you...there were NO OTHER CARS on the road that night)...except for the police officer watching me. Either way, I paid the fine and it snapped a six-year streak of not getting a ticket.
- Why did the people at EZPass send me a ticket for a toll violation when I'M AN EZPASS customer? I thought someone had stolen my car and busted through the toll booths without paying and then I realized. I have EZPASS. So even if someone did steal my car, the fawkers at EZPass take the money right out of my bank account so I should never get a ticket in the mail. I had to call these people and give them a piece of my mind.
But despite the miscues, January was a totally success. I'm looking forward to February. Today, is Super Bowl Sunday and I don't care who wins the game. The Patriots are not it in so...I have no "dawg in this fight." I just want to see a nice clean game and no blown calls by the officials.
For some strange reason, I'm looking forward to Valentine's Day even though....1) I don't have a girlfriend, boo or Ms. Right now...in my life and...2) I'm not looking for a Valentine or a girlfriend/boo/Ms. Right now in 2009. I've only had a few good V-days...in my life and I think I deserve a good one in 2009. In fact, I think I'm going to take myself out and celebrate being single. Any suggestions?
February is also Black History Month. With a black president now, I'm wondering if that will change the focus of Black History Month. We've always reflected on the past and honored trailblazers that have fought for equal rights for black people. But now do we focus on the future and help black people achieve the American Dream...now that we have the constitutionally guaranteed rights secured?

There was a flash ad for some NBC special this month on black folk on my MSN home page Monday. I was thinking why are they so big on black folk now that the pres is brown... Then I realized it was conveniently February, and they were just doing their obligatory netwok ratings scramble. God Bless America.
