Creative Wedding Proposal!

Fred Shropshire, a reporter for Tribune Co.-owned WGN-Channel 9, made news in Texas last weekend when he proposed on the air to Sheyenne Rodriguez, noon news anchor at KVIA-TV, the ABC affiliate in El Paso.

You can see it for yourself right here.

I wish the aforementioned couple all the best and lord knows that I'm jealous of their happiness.

It is also good to see relationships in journalism work.

It's a little bit original, as far as I know. But, #1, it's been done before, and even more #2, it's been done in El Paso already. I don't think the video is there anymore, and I couldn't find it on you tube, but here's a little bit about it http://www.kdbc.com/news/local/2060021.html and her bio, where she said the proposal was her most memorable news coverage. http://www.kdbc.com/bios/news/1357721.html

They even covered the wedding live. http://www.kdbc.com/news/local/2885916.html?skipthumb=Y

I don't know who's #1 in El Paso, but I imagine it might be KDBC, and KVIA is trying to compete with what they did and that's may be why the ND allowed it.

It has to be hard for 2 journalists period to be married, with different schedules. But a lot of people, especially in broadcast, don't live with their spouses. I know an anchor in Waco, her husband is a Dallas firefighter. An anchor/reporter at my station, her husband lives in North Carolina, and I believe that's where she met him, and she's trying to get back there.

That is cute.

LOL @ Skinny G - he said "Claire Huxtable"!

@ Journie: I think it takes two special kind of people (very independent and very secure) to deal with long-distance relationships. Trying to see if I have it in me, myself.

And don't worry. You'll find love soon, Sherlon. :) And maybe, just maybe, she'll be as hot as I am.

wait... journalism relationships work?? let's give them some time. oh damn. there i go being cynical abt this video again. lmao@cnel. umm... why was their wedding shown live?? i mean i know its el paso but there are smaller markets. come on! live?! sorry. i don't consider that news. but then i was the one going "you're not serious" when all 3 stations in pittsburgh were doing live coverage WITH REPORTERS on a pitbull puppy stuck in a drain pipe.

Original or not, both of those reporters' stock had to soar (which I'm sure they are well-aware)...they better not screw it up. :)

Had me damn near in tears with the adorable niece and all...but dammit, who did that man's fade?!!

Puh-lease. In ten years, they'll be divorced. Don't be naive. Everyone in this industry who gets hitched has at least one failed marriage.

It's so nice that both of them profess their love for Christ. I was very happy when I read that.

Hello Mr. (or Ms.) Optimism, Howard Journalist! The world isn't puppydogs and sunshine all day long, but it doesn't mean their marriage will fail!

I personally would never date/marry another journalist but that's on the basis of wanting variety in my life. And I love moving to different cities, so that relationship wouldn't work out. It wouldn't be fair to either of us.

@solitaire...wow...you would never date another journalist? or you would never date another journalist?
