Let me get the bad out of the way first because there were a lot of good things about this event.
THE BAD
- The show started late and they made us wait outside in line (in the hot weather) instead of letting us sit down inside Providence Night Club. Considering everyone pre-paid for the sold out event, I'm not sure what the hold up was.
- By starting late on a work night (Thursday night), you lost some of your crowd much earlier than you should have due to starting late.
- There was a skit at the beginning of the show that was way TOO LONG. The skit could have been 5 minutes shorter and still as effective.
- It was hard to hear the panelists and the hosts sometimes because they weren't projecting their voice loud enough in the microphone.
THE GOOD
- The concept by Paul Carrick Brunson, who calls himself the real life "Hitch", was very good and if you can get a sold out show in NYC on a Thursday night that's a very good sign.
- The crowd was 90 percent black and also 75 percent female ranging in ages, colors, shapes and sizes and they all looked stunning and ready for a red carpet appearance.
- I didn't agree with everything said by the host or even the panelists but it did invoke some deep thoughts on the state of black relationships in the United States.
- The location for the event was the Providence Night Club in NYC located at 311 West 57th Street. I had never been inside of the club before but had heard of it and it is a very classy spot. It was definitely one of the better looking spots in NYC. It was also the perfect spot to host an event like this before.
- I'm told Paul Carrick Brunson has future stops in Chicago, Dallas, Philadelphia, Atlanta and London. If I hear of dates, I'll be sure to pass along. Google "modern day matchmaker" to see Paul Carrick Brunson in action.
