Patriots running back Corey Dillon (No. 28 in the photo to the right) returned to action for the first time in three weeks and had a workman-like performance with 65 yards on 16 carries and scored on a 1-yard run. New England kicker Adam Vinatieri kicked field goals of 21, 34 and 22 yards and the New England defense had two sacks, one interception as the Patriots defeated the visiting New York Jets, 16-3, at Gillette Stadium on Sunday. The Patriots have won three of their last four games.
AFC East Standings
Patriots 7-5
Dolphins 5-7
Bills 4-8
Jets 2-10

So who plays in the Super Bowl. Make your pick now!
Corey Dillon with the large love handles (ears) on the sides of his head!!LOL Repping for the players over thirty! LUUUV him. He better watch out, if he does too well, he may get traded out of Boston, just like every other successful Patriot, Celtic, RedSox (and now even Bruin) who puts up good numbers and does well for the fans. Oh Well.
Corey Dillon is going to be vital the shred of Three-peat hope the Pats have left. With the exception of Denver, most of the AFC contenders cannot stop the run, and if Dillon's healthy and running, the Pats could rise. But I still think Indy will run the table.
Every other successful Patriot, Celtic, etc. traded out of Boston, chezniki?
Sure every team has made trades that maybe the fans didn't like but I'm not sure they've gotten rid of every succesful player they've had. And at this point, I don't think Dillon has much value, which is how the Pats got him at a bargain rate in the first place.
@ahleks-No Dillon isnt doing well enough to trade him yet. But if the Pats make it into the SuperBowl again, he will be at the top of the list for a one-way ticket outta Boston, just like Lawyer Milloy, Ty Law, Antoine Walker (he came back), Nomar, Pedro, Joe Thornton, soon to be Manny and even Theo Epstein and Jim OBrien. Boston teams regularly throw the baby out with the bathwater and as a fan, its hard to follow and/or watch.
way too early to make Super Bowl predictions...I'll wait till all the playoff teams are set...they I'm reveal my choices..
Eh as far as Dillon goes ... there isn't much of a market for a 31-year-old running back who's showing obvious signs of attrition. He used up a lot of his mileage running ragged for terrible teams in Cincy.
Antoine Walker being gone is better for the Celtics' future as far as I'm concerned. Yea, he can be fun to watch, but he really isn't that good a player when you break it down.
Nomar's production after he left and that World Series Championship says it all there.
Ty Law isn't the shut-down corner he used to be, though he is better than what the Pats have(not saying too much) ... I'm not sure I would take him for the price he was asking. And Lawyer got a nice replacement in Rodney Harrison.
I have faith that Manny will end up staying in town, as flaky as he is.
And Joe Thornton...who watches hockey anyway? lol
Yea, I think there have been a fair share of productive players who have left. But not only due to the organization, some of the players had a role in it as well. Hey, at least it hasn't been like with the Washington Wizards, who gave up a bunch of players for spare parts who ended up in Detroit and won a championship (though you could argue that Bruce Bowen and Rick Fox made good after they left Boston).
And yea, Theo and O'Brien being gone is unfortunate. The business and the money in sports can get quite annoying.

Bold Super Bowl picks: Cincinatti vs Chicago! lol
I just don't want Indy to win that's all. This matchup will probably never happen, but if it somehow does you guys heard it here first!
-Dillon has filled in nicely in a clutch (when all those other dudes were injured).
-Toine helped Pierce play better.
-The Sox won the World Series due to a freak of nature, voodoo and the earth turning backwards. It had nothing to do with Nomar leaving (2090!...oh sorry, wrong post)
-Ty Law kept the teams' spirit up. He and Milloy contributed a lot to the team (and besides, Lawyer Milloy is just so d*mn FOINE!!!)
-I didnt think Manny was going anywhere either, but he just sold his house.
You have to excuse me, but Im an ex-Bulls fan from the 90s. Seems like everytime I get to liking and getting used to a team and their coach together, some wealthy little white man like Danny Ainge or Larry Lucchino comes along and breaks them up...
...and no I dont follow the Bruins either, but I live in Boston, so the whole Thornton thing was a big deal on the news here, LOL!
chezniki...you are just way too attached to this scaring good talent out of Boston theory...half these players left town as garbage...and half had some upside.
I dont like change...I also dont like Boston...LOL
lol@don't like Boston...you kill me with statements like that...
wow. beating the jets. definitely an accomplishment. see how impressed i am?
tell klc you want the panthers and bengals. go ahead.
chris. come on. three peat? get that nonsense OUTTA here! not even if tony dungy, edgerrin james, marvin harrison, and chad johnson all died on the same plane.
ahleks. chicago. don't get carried away.
I seem to remember Chicago tossing around the Panthers like rag dolls a couple weeks ago jameil! lol
the bears are the cinderella story of the year...and wouldn't it be funny that the Bears win the Super Bowl to follow the White Sox winning the World Series. So...it essence they would have copied the Red Sox and the Patriots...circa 2004
ooooooooooooooooh. why you gotta try me like that ahleks? that's why your patriots got tossed by the panthers so close your mouth. thanks! and again, the bears ain't winnin no super bowl!!
So defensive jameil. I make no bones about the fact that the Pats aren't very good this year.
If the Panthers have a chance to go all the way, then so do the Bears by virtue of that pasting is all I'm saying.
Besides, when a Super Bowl was up for grabs between the Pats and Panthers, who won?
Thought so...
And if you really want to trade barbs here:
While the Panthers have rebounded from a lot of ineptitude, did they still not have a 1-15 season not too long ago?
ahleks & jameil...do i sense a little tension here?
yes you do sense some tension here dad b/c ahleks tried my face!!! lol. quit hatin ahleks you know you want them panthers. AND if you didn't have that BASTARD kicker, the panthers would be superbowl champs. and also, isn't it admirable to bounce back with a vengeance? yeah that's what i thought hater!!! how will the pats bounce back?? *insert tongue sticking out*
I seriously fail to see why I would have any reason to hate on the Panthers. What have they won?
And the only reason I brought your team into the discussion is because of your guff lady!
I do recall the Pats bouncing back after not making the playoffs the year after they won their first title and then winning two of tkem in a row. And the year before they won their first one, they were 5-11. I'd have to say, that's bouncing back pretty well.
In short: you are the one that is hating, jameil. So much unwarranted Patriot disdain out of you!
Lol. Jameil did you seriously just tell Ahleks to stop hating? When you do nothing but hate on the Patriots. Just so I'm clear, why exactly is Vinatieri a bastard kicker? Because he's good? Because he scored the winning goal which made the Patriots champions and sent your weak team home? For the record, if he hadn't scored that field goal, the game would have still been tied. So this "the Panthers would be Superbowl champs" stuff is really nothing more than wishful thinking. And seeing as the Patriots went on to win the Superbowl the next year and set the record for consecutive wins, the benefit of the doubt goes to them. But that's all irrelevant because you know what, He DID score the field goal. The Panthers DIDN'T keep the Patriots out of field goal range. The Patriots DID WIN the Superbowl and the Panthers lost. Time to get over it. As far as bouncing back with a vengeance, the Panthers missed the playoffs last year, so they did not "bounce back" from their superbowl loss with a vengeance. And as far as the Patriots bouncing back, they've proven their ability to do so. The year before they beat the Panthers they had a poor season and missed the playoffs, they bounced back from that season by winning TWO consecutive Superbowls.
this has turned into the hatfields and the McCoys....lol
