I’m in a devastating drought.
I’m on the verge of ending the 2005 fiscal dating year in an 0-5 slump. I’m also in danger of having my worst dating year of my life.
Unfortunately, ya’ll know about the two-part series with the HC (the hurricane chick) and ya’ll know about the WWC (wishy-washy chick) and I’ve withheld the names of the other guilty parties (for obvious reasons).
I would say, I’m out of options and I’ve raised the white flags (one in each hand) for 2005.
I started dating in 1997 and as I look back on my fiscal year reports (see Table 1.1). I haven’t done too badly. From 1997 to 2003, I was in college. From 1997-1999, I was single. From 2000-2004, I was in a relationship.
TABLE 1.1
1997 – Average
1998 – Above average
1999 – Above average
2000* - Average
2001^ – Above average
2002 – Above average
2003 – Average
2004~ – Below average
2005 – Below average
2006 - ?
*-I was involved in two relationships one good and one bad, hence the average rating.
^-I began a long term relationship.
~-The long-term relationship ended.
Now, I need to do something to break my slump because I refuse to have three consecutive below average years. Until recently, I thought people that dated online were LOSERS (I still do) but right now I’m in no position to make fun of anyone.
So, I’ve created a few free online profiles (I haven’t hit rock bottom yet to actually pay) on some new black dating sites and I still have old faithful blackplanet.com. I'm hoping to at least break even in 2006.
Stay tuned.

I know good and well you didn't do BP's dating profile. If you did, good luck on that one.
lolol. this should be good for nothing else but pure-t comedy! i can't WAIT for these stories. I have a friend who's tried the internet dating thing... we'll see!
ok whoa! i just read the HC drama. wow! now THAT is a movie. i was looking for some more. wow.
you need to get the fuq outta jersey.
Don't do it! Stay away from online dating. I thought about that once, but I was in a relationship at the time. Thank God I was. You never know what woulda happened...
Aren't droughts sometimes healthy - giving the soil time to breathe and recoup? Enjoy your drought and your singleness while it lasts - it really ain't that bad.
-as I look back on my fiscal year reports (see Table 1.1).
I'm mad you said (see Table 1.1)
and did you really chart out your dating past? This is a classic my man, muthereffin CLASSIC
journiemajor...I just have a regular BP page.
Pops...I'm not ready to give up on New Jersey just yet.
M-Dubb...I'm only going into the online dating thing with one foot in...
Talia...interesting perspective.
Elle Willa....I'm glad that I am able to make you laugh. Please continue to be a loyal reader of the blog.
I say go for the online dating full force. Why? People who pay for such sites tend to be serious about finding someone...unlike your WWC. You learn a lot thru a person's emails and IMs. Women are not shy about approaching guys online. Try this free site to get your feet wet: www.plentyoffish.com

That isn't a very sexy name for a dating site...but I did take a peek at it and it doesn't seem like I would find many black people on this site.
Tru...aint very sexy, but the fact that you can communicate for free makes up for it. There are plenty of black folks on there... ethnicity is among the search criteria...tho I guess it does depend on the geo. region you're searching. BlackVoices.com is also a freebie (tho a bit BPish). ~wise
o.k....i will check it out..
My s/o and I met on Match.com, shortly after I'd switched my location to VA after realizing I'd be moving down there. We exchanged volumes of emails and phone conversations. And, then we met in person for lunch when I got down there. And, things have been lovely ever since. One of my girlfriends met her husband that way. There *is* hope. You just have to keep your eyes open to read the signs and pray for sane people. hahaha
i have a profile on match.com too...
