Straight From the Streets Report #6

As usual, the straight from the streets report is live and direct from New Jersey.

1. The countdown to my first election is three days. I got an informational mailing for the New Jersey Division of Elections today. The pamphlet looks like an actual ballot and it includes information on each candidate on the two ballots questions. I have already made up my mind on who I'm voting for governor of New Jersey. I still have homework to do on the local candidates.

2. I got an interesting postcard in the mail today from, coincidentally, the United States Post Office. The local post office is expanding its hours of operation to Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The local post office will still be closed on Sunday. Hmmm. Why do I feel another price increase is coming?

3. After a year of speculation, I finally decided to get an answer on why there isn't a single self-service gas station in the entire state of New Jersey (bama-ish...I know...I am not from this state...I just live here now). I recently asked a gas station attendant (just before I embarked on the roadtrip with Kyla Pratt's look-a-like) and I don't remember the exact words but the gas station attendant spouted off something like "a law was passed to make every gas station full-service so there would always be jobs and to ease the unemployment rate a while back.'' I'm not buying it but stories like this seem to ONLY exist in New Jersey.

That's all for now...check back in a week or so for the next Straight from the Streets Report.

Vote or Die. Bad Boy, and we won't stop 'cause we can't stop. Seriously, welcome to the world of voting, Sherlon, glad to see you're taking it seriously. I have 40-year old relatives who sit on their asses and complain but aren't willing to help force change.

I'm glad that I exercised my constitutionally guaranteed right and I can't wait to vote for president in 2008.
