For those of you clamoring for an update on my Dear Cecily post, here you go! I must warn you this is one hell of a story. If you don’t have something to eat or drink…go to the kitchen…heat something up…pop open a Heineken…and come back.
Also, take your bathroom breaks now too… I’m going to need your undivided attention.
Also, if you haven’t read the Dear Cecily post…go to the August archives and read it.
O.K…without any further ado…this is what went down.
Ever since I left Schenectady, New York in August 2004 for New Jersey and Cecily left Albany, New York for D.C. that same summer, we have been flirting back-and-forth via e-mail, text message and phone.
We finally agreed that I would come to D.C. to visit the last weekend in August. Since, she lost a Super Bowl bet (for the record…never bet against the Patriots) and had to cancel the first meeting due to a death in her family, she agreed to make this an all-expenses paid affair to rectify the situation. Cool beans.
I never made the trip to D.C…here is why?

I just got your email as my internet was out at home and I was off site today. My boss (the new one as of last Friday) informed me that she would just love it if I went to this conference my former boss was scheduled to attend in Louisiana this weekend because she is still getting settled in. I told her I had plans that would be hard to undo. She said she would see what she could do. Apparently she didn't do much because the plane reservation was on my desk when I got back 10 minutes ago. After cursing for 10 minutes I decided I had better let you know. I think I have steam coming out of my ears. So pissed the little bitch did that on such short notice this weekend of all weekend. I really don't just know what to say.

Go to your conference...my boss moved up my football deadlines...so now I couldn't go even if I wanted to...I have Sept. 2 and 3rd off...if you aren't going away...and then I requested the last weekend in September off...
how's that sound?

Now, this is the same weekend that Hurricane Katrina was headed to New Orleans and I’m thinking does she even know that a Category 5 storm could level the Crescent City? I send her another e-mail because she should have arrived on Friday to New Orleans.

I don’t hear from Cecily for four days. I fear the worst. When I do get her on the phone…the connection is so bad…I can barely hear her…and the signal drops. I’m not able to connect anymore. I dig through my e-mail account and found a forward she sent to me and several of her friends. I sent this frantic e-mail out to everyone on the list.
My e-mail to the friends on the forward list on Wednesday, August 31st 2005
She told me she was in New Orleans and was stuck in the Superdome and that was just before her cell phone died on Sunday night.

P.S. I got your e-mail address from a forward she sent me a few months ago
I got only one response to my e-mail to her friends. It was from her friend Kelly and she dropped a bombshell of a response to me.
Kelly’s e-mail to me on Thursday, September 1st 2005
I just talked to her this weekend. She went to Lake George (a town in upstate New York…close to where her family lives) with her mother but there were a lot of spiders so she came home (to Albany, N.Y.). She called me Monday night or Tuesday and she's in Albany and fine. Try her cell phone again or email her. I haven't heard from her in a couple of days but I do know that she called me Monday night.

What happened?
¿qué sucedió? (Spanish version)
que s'est produit? (French version)
che cosa è accaduto? (Italian version)
was geschah? (German version)
Lol…I think I covered the five major languages…just wanted to make sure everyone in the world could understand my response. Like a good reporter, I had to hit up Kelly with the follow up.
My response to Kelly’s e-mail on Thursday, September 1st 2005
O.K...something isn't right here. I e-mailed Cecily last week and she told me she was being sent to New Orleans by her job and that she's still there.
Now, you’re telling me she was in Lake George and is now in Albany with her family. I spoke to her on Wednesday night via cell phone and she told me she was on her way to Houston with some other evacuees.
Of course, I had to give Cecily at least one chance to explain herself. I e-mail her on Saturday, September 3rd 2005 to ask if she was back in D.C. yet? I purposely didn’t mention my conversation with Kelly via e-mail but I assumed that Kelly and Cecily spoke after Kelly got my response.
I haven’t received another e-mail from Kelly (nor do I expect one). My last correspondence with Cecily was via her Saturday, Sept. 3rd e-mail response to my question saying “Not yet…it is a long story…I apologize.”
I bet it is...and I'm dying to hear it...but I don't think I ever will. (Shrugs shoulders)
O.K…I asking ya’ll to make the call….Who do you believe?
Kelly?
Cecily?
Neither?
The voting booth is now open…..

wow ... and i thought i was he only on the face of the earth to have situations of shade occur to me.
damn sherlon. i say you forget her and move on. if she cannot respect you enough to be true and honset with you then she need not your time or attention.
Sherlon,
Your blog made my head spin. Leave her alone. Why bother?
Natalie
P.S. Long distance is always overrated.
it all boils down to one simple truth:
sometimes, motherfuckers ain't shit.
Man this sounds like Two Can Play That Game shit.
She is guilty of something man. Stay away from the crazy girl.
Yeah, I agree with the previous posts. Make sure she is still alive (Let one more phone call/email come through) and then leave that one alone...Also, it sounds like she and Kelly wont be speaking any more after this since the girl blew Cecily's cover. How you gonna use the SuperDome as an excuse to break a date? That's like pretending to call from lower Manhattan during the morning of 9/11. That's twisted!
Ummm can we all just say Grimey with a capable G? One of my biggest pet peeves is phoniness. I mean if you're an adult, act like it, be a little different and endeavor to be authentic. I'm pissed for you. If she didn't want to be involved with you, she shouldn't have played games, she should have been woman enough to tell you. My other biggest pet peeve is wasting other people's time, and she did just that. Her demeanor shows that both men and women can do dirt. But she did more than dirty, what she did was FOUL. Don't worry about her. Let it go and move on to the next. Hopefully someone who is worth your time and effort will come along. Great posting, sad topic, but great blog. You atleast get the Good Brother award for not flipping out, cause I probably would have gone Bmore city on her.
Well...I know she's alive...I got an e-mail from her today...I didn't read it yet.
Also, She's not a journalist.
